Royer Snags a Pair

Following a frightening roll-over in the street stock class, won by Derek Roberts (outlaw10), Mark Royer (mroyer) came back to grab his first short track win ever in the modifieds class and immediately followed that with his second checkers ever in the late models class.

A Blistering Night at Peach State

Racing teams battled blistered right front tires all night at Peach State this past Sunday as Hoosier Tire Company tried a new compound to improve the usually slippery surface at the track.  "The compound simply held too much heat and if drivers weren't very careful entering, the right front blistered and burned up very quickly." explained company spokesman Reyor Kram.  Nevertheless, Joe Roberts (butchie) managed to take two classes, street stocks and modifieds, leaving the 75 lap feature late model checkers for Denis Balsar (liteman).

2008 is Coming ...

... and it's Going to ROCK!

The Hooters ProCup Online Racing Series (HPCORS) front office has been working hard during the off-season to make HPCORS the best short-track experience you will find on the internet in 2008. While sticking with our traditional format of following the real USAR Hooters ProCup schedule, week for week, track for track, we've gone a step beyond and added a number of new attractions this year.

So... pull the old short-track car from the garage, tune up the engine, dust off the steering wheel, touch up the paint and get ready for bumper-to-bumper, door-to-door, fender-bending action! Short-trackin' like it oughta' be!

Non-driving, In-Race Officials
We have secured non-driving, in-race officials for EVERY ProCup race in 2008. That means we will have live, on-the-spot calls and corrections throughout. This will allow us to add a few rules to more closely simulate the real Hooters ProCup such as:

Lucky Dog - USAR style - See Rules Page, Rule 3p
Tail End of Lead Lap - Also a USAR rule - See Rules Page, Rule 3q
and more...

1:24 Diecast Car Awards
(Click on picture for larger image.)
HPCORS has launched it's popular Diecast Awards Program again for the 2008 season. This year program we will give drivers three(!) 1:24 scale diecast replica awards of their online cars.

And, don't be thinking just the top drivers will win them. Sure, the overall Championhip Series champion will win one, but we've devised a pro-am, real-sim fantasy system that gives everyone a good shot at winning the other two. Basically, you pick your favorite real-life Hooters ProCup driver as a teammate and then your combined team score is used in your quest for the diecast cars.

This will keep a wide range of drivers competitive for the diecast awards and at the same time connect our interests closely with the real USAR Hooters ProCup as we root for our selected real drivers to score well.

For details and eligibility see the Diecast Awards webpage.

To take part, you must apply to the award program by sending me (Mark Royer, mroyer1@comcast.net) the following information as before 01-Mar-2008 (your real-life selections will be locked in as of that date):

Your Name and Screenname
Your e-mail address
Your car number
Your selected ProCup division (North or South, you choose)
Your selected real-life USAR HPC driver and car number

To help HPCORS drivers select their real-life counterparts, here is a few of good sites to peruse:

USAR Hooters ProCup - Official Website
USARFans.Com - top notch fansite
ProCup Digest - detailed HPC statistics (including for individual drivers)

Expert and Open Sets for ProCup
HPCORS ProCup alternates week-to-week between fixed and open set races. Experience has taught us that most short track designers put the bulk of their efforts into the <expert> set instead of the <fast> set. So, for our fixed set races we will use the <expert> set. While any particular track might vary, on the whole, we believe we will have a better season racing <expert>.

Touring is anything but Boring
As many of you know, the Hooters ProCup schedule has many off weeks sprinkled in and HPCORS fills those weeks with it's popular Touring Series.
We are still in the throes of puzzling together the 18-event 2008 Touring Series schedule.

We will probably start the season with the same format as last year, a 25 lap street stock race followed by a 50 lap modified race then capped by a 75 lap late model feature using NR2005. We may split the long year into two shorter 9-event seasons.

And....

We are taking a serious look at the about-to-be-released ARCA Sim Racing game (promised before March). While this game is rooted in the rFactor physics engine, it is a highly modified version specifically adapted to oval racing. Tony Stevens, HPCORS President, has done a lot of beta testing on the game and is excited by the results. Depending on when the game is released, when OLR rolls out it's support for the game, and all of our driver's ultimate opinion of it, we may give ARCA Sim Racing a trial run using the Touring Series as the vehicle.
