- Series Overview - |
|
|
Hooters ProCup Online
Racing Series (HPCORS) is modeled as closely as possible to the real
USAR Hooters ProCup Series
(HPC)
as seen on
Speed Channel.
Just like the real series, we run two ProCup divisions, North and
South,
each having a separate series of regular season races. At the conclusion of the
regular season, the Four Champions Championship Series
combines the best
drivers from each division in a multi-race shootout... all on exciting, high-quality, highly competitive
short tracks! (Signup
here.)
The
HPCORS ProCup schedule
follows the
USAR schedule
week-for-week and track-for-track. HPCORS' races begin at
approximately 9:40 PM ET (6:40 PM PT) Sunday night with the track
opening for practice at 9 PM. HPCORS is an
Online Racin' (OLR)
member league and races on
OLR servers.
In addition to the ProCup divisions, HPCORS
also runs a Touring Series
that includes three classes: late models, modifieds and street stocks.
The Touring Series also runs on Sunday nights at 9 PM ET with the
schedule designed to
fill in ProCup off weeks with a less-rigorous, just-for-fun racing
series. While the ProCup divisions are intended for
intermediate to veteran level drivers, the Touring Series
welcomes drivers of all skills including beginner drivers (See
Getting Started).
Each HPCORS driver selects a ProCup
division (North or South) for which he will be scored.
An HPCORS driver may run races in the other ProCup division as a
cross-over driver, but will receive no score for doing so.
All HPCORS drivers are scored for the late model class of the
Touring Series.
For the ProCup divisions (North
and South) and the late
model class of the Touring Series,
driver
points are accumulated. The ProCup points system is modeled directly after the USAR Hooters ProCup
system. The late model points system is more indicative of
that found at a typical, local short track. Driver points are accumulated throughout the regular
season in a quest for the divisional championship and for ProCup
divisions directly affects championship series eligibility and
seeding. Points are accumulated during
the championship series in the battle to be named overall HPCORS
champion.
To add spice to the series, each
ProCup division alternates between fixed <expert> setup races
and open setup races. This allows drivers to hone their
chassis setup skills at short tracks without the burden of having to
come up with a new set every week.

- ProCup Divisions - |
|
Two ProCup
divisions, North and South, will entertain drivers of
intermediate or greater skill-level.
As a minimum, drivers are expected to be able to drive
consistent high and low lines at short tracks and must
be able to cleanly get out of the way of faster traffic
when being lapped. Both ProCup divisions run Sunday
night and follow USAR Hooters ProCup series schedule week-for-week
and track-for-track. The
Four-Champions
Championship Series runs at the conclusion of the regular season and
seeds the best drivers from each ProCup division in a
shootout to determine the overall HPCORS champion.

- Why Join HPCORS? - |
|
Proactive League Administration:
HPCORS management understands the demands of running an online
league and takes a proactive posture in all aspects of league
administration, from active participation in races to development
and maintenance of
this website.
We put forth a great effort to provide timely race results and
maintain up-to-date scoring and standings. We try to add depth
to the league by providing various ancillary features such as our
news
archive and
photo/video galleries. We constantly seek to partner with a
variety of sponsors to our mutual benefit, bringing sponsors
increased exposure throughout online racing community while allowing
us to offer great prizes and awards to participants; all with an eye
towards making HPCORS the best online short-track experience you
will find.
Join us and join the
fun.
Improve Your Driving Skills:
HPCORS entertains a wide range of driver skill levels. We
firmly believe that drivers with disparate skills can drive together
on the same track if everyone does their part. Faster drivers,
please respect the skill level of slower drivers. Recognize
their braking points and don't run them over on turn entry.
Don't crowd them in the corner. When passing, give plenty of
room in case they bobble it. Slower drivers, recognize when
it's appropriate to race faster cars hard versus when it's doing
nobody any good to hold up faster traffic. The latter is
usually the case, so, move out of the way and let them pass before
frustrations mount. Try to indicate whether they should pass
high or low.
In the ProCup divisions, as a minimum
all HPCORS expects is
that at each track you be able to run a smooth low line, a smooth high
line and be able to cleanly move out of the way of faster traffic.
And... that you practice each track before race-day to insure that
you can do all of the above.
In the Touring Series, we entertain a
full range of driver skill levels from beginner up. Beginner
drivers should take advantage of the driving aids which are allowed
in the Touring Series. When starting out, turn on all the
aids. Slowly wean yourself off the driving aids as your
driving skill improves. HPCORS has a lot of highly
knowledgeable, friendly drivers; take advantage of that and ask
questions and listen to suggestions.
Short tracking is a great way to learn
to drive a race car. Even speedway jocks can substantially
improve their cornering by racing short tracks; Everything
happens much more quickly on a short track and the excitement
unfolds unexpectedly and suddenly. Remember, every
Nextel Cup driver got his start racing the various local short
tracks speckled across this great nation. Whether you're
novice or pro, HPCORS is a great way to improve your overall
driving while having a great time doing it!
Ease into Learning Chassis Setups:
HPCORS ProCup divisions run half of the races using open setups
and half using fixed <expert> sets, on alternating races for each
division. The Touring Series runs fixed sets for the street
stock (<fast>) and modified (<expert>) races and open sets for the Late Model races. This provides a
great way for drivers to learn how to develop good chassis setups in
a competitive, league environment without being entirely shut out of
the competition. For those new to setting up a race car, try
your hand at it and see what you can come up with. If race day
is approaching and your setup is still out-of-whack... no big
deal... just run the <expert> set for that week. Remember, next
race everyone will be running an <expert> set!
